About the property
Airigh is the Scottish Gaelic for shieling, which were moorland bothies traditionally once used by island families when tending livestock out in the moor in the summer months, a practice which has now gone out of existence. Many of the old bothies still remain and can be seen throughout Lewis and Harris, with even one or two still in active use.
A trip to the airigh used to mean a summer holiday for the islanders of yesteryear and now you can take advantage of the perfect summer or winter holiday by arranging you stay at Airigh Mhealbost. Just a short drive from the town of Stornoway and adjacent to the local airport, this 5-star detached house in private surroundings is ideal for all the family.
The house has three bedrooms; the master being ensuite with a double-size shower cubicle. There are two double beds and a set of bunk beds, giving spacious accommodation for up to six. The master bathroom has a large monsoon head shower and a steam shower facility, all incorporated over a small Jacuzzi bath.
The kitchen is large and fully equipped with gas hob, electric fan oven, microwave and American style fridge/freezer. The dining area sits off the large lounge area, which is furnished with leather settees and warmed for those cold winter months with a wall mounted gas feature fire. You can make use of our flat screen TV with surround sound DVD player, full Sky TV package and wifi internet. A large decking area provides the ideal spot for a BBQ or just to sit out with a coffee or glass of wine.
